looking for Mrs. Right
I've learned that what a person does for a living is not necessarily
something they want to do on their free time. I've learned that not everyone
wants to go out and do stuff on their free time, or not the same frequency I
like to go out and do stuff. I have a hard time with just being. I like to be active. I'm also a giver—so I need
to give to my partner to feel validated. I enjoy giving.
I have been in AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and worked at
the YMCA in Boston. I have a strong commitment to community, building
community. I worked with low-income families and at-risk youth and hope to
continue that work somehow as a teacher.
I was raised in the Christian church and currently play
drums for a worship team in a church. I like contemporary Christian music. I am
looking for someone who shares similar views on God/Christian stuff. I also
have been involved with the Sufi religion. I love Rumi poems. I think I have a
strong spiritual side that the Christian church doesn't really emphasize, or do
anything to grow. That is frustrating for me. I have attended Unitarian Universalist
services. They usually made me sad because of all the talk of what is wrong in
the world. I like the song that says "we do not exist for us, but to share
your grace and love, and exhale." I think we should inhale the grace and
let our hands, feet, and mouth show the world love. My spirituality tells me to
go into the dark places and shine my light. That is what I hope to do.
I am physically active. Once my knee is healed 100% I
want continue trail running. I like running in the forest and miss it right
now. I go to the gym 3-4 times/week for weights, cardio, and sauna. I am
Finnish. I like sauna. A lot. I also teach yoga. If my body is a temple, I'm
going to take care of it. I like being fit and am looking for someone who is
into fitness and health.
I drive a '93 Toyota Corolla. It has been a reliable car,
and gets me from point A to point B. Someone backed into it, so now is has a
rather large dent. I do not name my cars, yet. I hope my next car is an old
Subaru wagon, so I can haul my percussion equipment and go to the mountains. I
am frugal, thrifty, and like to use coupons. But I will spend money on things
that matter to me, like a yoga, hiking, or biking vacation.
I like to cook. My mom raised me, so I guess that might
be why. I am not vegetarian, but for the right person, would be OK with a
vegetarian. I use a lot of different spices. I do not add salt to my food. I do
get the occasional craving for Burger King—not often though. My favorite foods
are Mexican and Pho soups.
Current life situation: I'm in graduate school working
towards being certified as a high school math teacher. I don't know where I
will end up, but would like to work in the Portland area or on the north Oregon
coast. It would be cool to work at a High School in north Portland--the
neighborhood I grew up in. Sorry ladies if you're looking for gold. I will not have any;)
I do want to get married. Sooner rather than later. I do
want kids. I would consider adopting with the right person.
If this seems interesting and you have questions, ask. I'll do my best to answer.
Thanks for reading.
Matt
